Education Minister Wants Contingency Plan For Snow Days

Schools in Southeastern New Brunswick have been forced to cancel 13 days of the school year, due to stormy weather.

That’s the most ever for the Anglophone East School district.

Speaking in the provincial Legislature yesterday, Education Minister Serge Rouselle says he wants to see changes made to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

His department is putting together two committees, one for Anglophone and the other Francophone, and they will be looking at a contingency plan for next year in the hopes of coming up with solutions for the school years to come.

Collective agreements with teachers prevent the province adding extra school days to the year or on weekends.
