East End Pool To Open Next Month

Residents in Moncton’s east end should have a place to swim by next month.

Ward 1 City Councillor Shawn Crossman says the new east end pool should be open by early to mid July, “Based on what I have seen, and based on the feedback I have been getting from many residents is this seems to be exactly what they are looking for. So the sooner we can get that pool open, so it can be enjoyed by everyone, the better off we are.”

This pool has been a long time coming, “This project should have been done in 2014-2015. The latest should have been 2015 for the citizens to enjoy,” Crossman adds.

There have been some concerns raised about the depth of the $2.3 million dollar pool.

It will be almost five feet deep, but there were hopes it would be deeper than that.

Crossman says there are a few features it will have that the one that closed in 2013, did not have, “It will be handicapped accessible. The previous one did not have that option. It will also have easy entrance. This will allow everyone to use the entire pool, whereas before we only had a few options to get in or out.”
