While residents in the East end await more news on the fate of their outdoor pool. Moncton City Councillor Shawn Crossman continues to tout the benefits.
He says we need to keep the kids moving, “We have to get away from the social medias of the world. We have to get computers out of kids hands and we have to get them active again. This is a low cost way to keep people active. During the day, they’re at home in the summertime. There are different issues going on at home. Here, they can step out with their peers and enjoy a couple of hours at the pool.”
Crossman says swimming is a great physical activity for seniors as well.
“To get them active and keep them active. Swimming and physical activity uses every muscle in the body. These are things that we need to contribute and give back to the citizens of Moncton for a healthy way of life,” Cross adds.
The east end pool was closed in 2013 due to maintenance issues.
Crossman says it was hoped that construction would be underway on a new pool, with the hopes of opening for the summer of 2019…
