Dumont Hospital Suspends Visits For Oncology, Pediatric Units

Vitalite Health Network has temporarily suspended visits at the Pediatric Unit and Oncology Unit at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre amid a stomach condition.

A news release issued by the network on Monday afternoon states that a number of patients and employees are experiencing symptoms of gastroenteritis.

Commonly referred to as the stomach flu, gastroenteritis can cause unfavourable symptoms that include nausea and cramps.

The same illness was cited for the suspension of visits at the Dumont Hospital’s Pediatric Unit on Friday, July 23.
Parents with children in the Pediatric Unit are still permitted to visit.

The safety measure will remain in place until further notice.
