Drug Plan And Forestry Agreement To Be Reassessed

The new Liberal Government, under Premier Brian Gallant, proclaiming it has plans ready for job creation and control of government spending with the goal being to realise savings of 250 million dollars.

In the Speech from the Throne, read by the new Lieutenent-Governor Jocelyne-Roy Vienneau, the Liberals say the comprehensive drug coverage plan developed by the Alward Government for the uninsured will be reassessed with the aim being to mitigate the high premiums that are coming down the road.

The Liberals will also reassess the new forestry plan that was agreed to by the Conservatives and J-D Irving based on complaints from small independent woodlot operators.

The Premier says we need to diversify the provincial economy with more innovation and he will be chairing a new Jobs Board with overall responsibility for job creation.

The government is also promising to develop a ten year plan for education and address the skills gap, claiming there are too many jobs without people to fill them in a province with high unemployment and young people leaving for greener pastures elsewhere.
