Drowning Prevention Week is July 19-25

Summer is meant to be enjoyed, and a few simple water safety habits can make all the difference. Whether you’re spending time at the pool, the beach, or the lake, we all have a role to play in helping keep ourselves, our families, and our community safe around the water.

Throughout the week at the Lion Ken Gabbey Outdoor Pool, we’ll be hosting information booths and onsite demonstrations during Open Swims where you can:

• Pick up backyard and beach safety tips
• Learn how swimming lessons help build lifelong water safety skills
• Chat with our team about becoming a lifeguard and meet some of the people who help keep our pool safe

We’ll wrap up the week with a Free Open Swim on Saturday, July 25 from Noon-5:15 p.m.. If you see one of our lifeguards at the pool this week, take a moment to thank them for the important work they do keeping our community safe.

Come by, say hi, and take away a water safety tip or two.
