Drivers Adjust To Roundabouts In Dieppe

The City of Dieppe introduced roundabouts during 2017 with two being installed along the lower end of Dieppe Boulevard.

Mayor Yvon Lapierre says roundabouts are safer than most intersections since they force drivers to slow down when entering them.

“Without a doubt, roundabouts are very safe operational. There is experience all around the world dealing with roundabouts. Of course we are not that familiar with them here but we are getting more familiar with them,” he notes.

Lapierre says changes in traffic flow were needed with a middle school set to open on Dieppe Boulevard in September.

The new four-lane Route 15 overpass now under construction linking Dieppe with Harrisville Boulevard will also feature partial roundabouts at each end.
