Dozens of cats dropped off at the Greater Moncton SPCA

The Greater Moncton SPCA has been overwhelmed with cats and kittens.

On Friday, close to 70 cats and kittens were brought into the shelter.

Director of Animal Welfare Nanette Pearl says over 20 of those animals were from one New Brunswick home and they were voluntarily surrendered.

Pearl says this has put a major strain on the shelter.

Every cat that comes through their doors, costs upwards of $100 due to the price of food, litter, spaying/neutering and flea treatment.
