Downtown Entertainment Centre Coming Closer To Reality

An important step in the process for a downtown entertainment centre will be taken before the end of the year.

City Manager Jacques Dube gave an update at last night’s Moncton City Council meeting.

He says they expect to receive two bids for the construction, operation and maintenance of the facility on November 7th.

“Once we receive those submissions, we will evaluate them and that will take us into probably mid-December. We intend, at this point, to bring a recommendation as to the preferred proponent to Council on or before December 25th.”

From there, there will be some legal work to do, but if all goes well, they hope to have a deal by February or March.

Dube says with the change in provincial government in the last month, they will also need to reaffirm the funding committment from the province and also ensure the federal funding plan in in place.
