The oval in the plaza next to the Downtown Events Centre is being named after the City of Moncton’s longtime General Manager of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture.
The construction of the Ian Fowler Oval is being supported by a $1.1 million donation from Jon and Leslie Manship for infrastructure improvements.
Leslie says they believe in the value of beautiful space, and jumped at the opportunity to help create one.
“Our new plaza brings design, art, music, fitness, and most importantly, fun to our downtown,” says Leslie Manship. “It will be a place for us to gather, play, relax and celebrate.”
The $4.3 million dollar plaza is adjacent to the Downtown Events Centre and will include an outdoor ice rink, a stage, and a sound system.
