Dorchester Students and Community Members Express Need To Keep School Open

A large crowd turned out at last night’s meeting to try and save Dorchester Consolidated School from closure.

Amongst the around 150 people who attended, speakers ranged from parents, students and other concerned community members, who made a compassionate plea to the Anglophone East District Education Council to keep the school open.

The school is currently at only 25 per cent capacity, with 65 students, and that number is expected to decrease.

Another meeting will be held tonight to discuss the future of Riverside Consolidated school.

Sustainability studies are currently underway on both schools.

The Anglophone East District Education Council will makes its recommendations on April 21st.
