Dominic LeBlanc Diagnosed With Leukemia

The federal fisheries minister has been diagnosed with leukemia.

Through social media, Dominic LeBlanc has announced doctors at the Dumont Hospital in Moncton diagnosed him back in the spring following an annual physical exam.

In a statement, oncologist Dr. Nicholas Finn explained that LeBlanc has a chronic form of leukemia (CLL – chronic lymphocytic leukemia) which must be closely monitored and sometimes treated but it can be controlled.

LeBlanc noted he will continue to serve as a cabinet minister and Member of Parliament for Beausejour.

He added the parliamentary calendar gives him the flexibility to start treatments right away and he’s confident this will not impact his work.
