Dire Warning About Survival Of Wild Atlantic Salmon

The population of Wild Atlantic Salmon is in crisis according to the Atlantic Salmon Federation and the Miramichi Salmon Federation.

The two groups are calling on the Prime Minister to develop an emergency action plan because the issue has been studied to death.

Atlantic Salmon Federation President Bill Taylor says back in the 90s the salmon returns to the Miramichi River were as much as 82-thousand and now, it’s more like 23 thousand.

The decline has been blamed on overfishing and climate change. Taylor says all user groups will have to sacrifice something in the name of conservation in order to save the Wild Atlantic Salmon.
