Dieppe woman dead after falling from truck: police

A Dieppe woman is dead after she allegedly fell off the side of a moving truck.

The RCMP say they were called to a trail near Rue Richard in Bas-Caraquet around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release.

They found the 42-year-old woman from Dieppe unresponsive and pronounced her dead at the scene because of her injuries.

Police say they believe she fell from the passenger side of the truck while it was moving, and the driver, a 33-year-old man from Bas-Caraquet, showed signs of impairment.

He was arrested and taken to the local RCMP detachment, where he gave breath samples. The man was then released on conditions, pending a future court appearance.

Fire and ambulance crews were also on scene. The New Brunswick Coroner’s Office, along with the RCMP Forensic Identification Services, are helping with the investigation.
