Dieppe Issues Localized Boil Water Order

The City of Dieppe has issued a boil order following a water main break on Amirault Street.

In a news release issued on Monday, the City said crews are currently on-site repairing the water main, and water service will be temporarily shut off.

The order affects properties located from 2152 and 2135, Amirault to 2685 Amirault, at 16 and 19 Léonide, from 301 to 818 Dover, for all properties located in the Domaine Dover Estates and for all properties located on Freda, Marco, Kristian, J.-F. Bourgeois, Vézina, Raphaël, Joanne, Carter and Bayview streets.

The City is asking residents in the affected areas to abide by instructions until the Public Health Office lifts the order.

  • All water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking, brushing teeth and dental hygiene is held at a rolling boil for at least one minute, including water that is used for washing teeth, making ice, making coffee/tea or juice and washing fruits and vegetables. This is particularly important for those whose immune system is compromised (i.e. elderly, infants, people with transplanted organs, on dialysis, etc.). Please note that home water filtration devices (water softener, pitcher filters, etc.) cannot eliminate microorganisms that could make you sick.
  • Water can be boiled in a pot, in a kettle on a stove, or in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off.
  • It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes such as bathing, showering, laundry or washing hands and dishes. When bathing or showering, avoid swallowing the water.

The Water and Sewer Department is handling any questions and can be contacted at 877.7990 or call 850.5104 for questions regarding the boil water advisory.

The City will issue a notice when the boil order is lifted.
