Dieppe Firefighters To Participate In Water Rescue Training

About 40 firefighters from the Dieppe Fire Department will be on the Petitcodiac River training in water rescues this week.

Captain of training Jeffrey Pyke says teams of three firefighters will be taking turns practicing rescuing a 185 pound life like dummy from the water.

He says the Petitcodiac is an area of concern for them given the dymanic nature of the river and the number of visitors who come every year.

Pyke says they have to be prepared in the case that something unfortunate happens.

Traing will be held today and again on Wednesday.
