Defence Closes Its Case At Dennis Oland Trial

Dennis Oland’s Defence team closed its case today at his second-degree murder trial in Saint John.

Defence Lawyer Alan Gold closed the case and then told Justice Terrence Morrison he would have all written submissions done by April 23rd and the Crown’s P.J. Veniot said they would be done by April 30th.

Court will resume on May 9th and 10th to allow for oral arguments and after that Justice Morrison says he will need at least six weeks to write his decision, bringing an end to the trial into early or mid-June.

At 11:30 there was a crime scene visit to 52 Canterbury Street were the homicide of Richard Oland occurred in 2011. Dennis, some of his lawyers, Crown lawyers and Justice Morrison all attended.

Oland, part of his defence team, Crown Prosecutor P.J. Veniot and Justice Terrence Morrison spent about 15 minutes inside the Far End Corporation office.
