Danny the dog returns to duty

The Metro Moncton police dog that captured the hearts of Canadians is heading back to work.

Danny the German Shepherd had been partnered with Constable Dave Ross of Codiac RCMP.

Ross was one of three officers killed in the line of duty in June.

During the reginmental funeral, Danny touched the hearts of many when he was heard whimpering next to Ross’ coffin.

Inspector Andre Lemyre with the RCMP Police Dog Training Centre in Alberta says the police force has appreciated the outpouring of support for Danny and his well-being.

Word on Danny’s new posting or his new handler are not being released by RCMP at this time.
