Cyclists Raising Money For National Paramedic Monument

Paramedics and community members will come together next weekend to help raise money for a national paramedic monument in Ottawa.

The 2018 New Brunswick Paramedic Ride is one of five events taking place across Canada this year.

Crystal Hart-Drake is the local organizer and tells us more than 40 people have already signed up for the event, now into its third year.

“Most of our riders are actually coming from Ontario,” says Hart-Drake. “We have several from the U.S., which is awesome to see, and I’m really excited this year that we have more public joining us.”

“Us coming together, which is exactly how it should be, means so much. I’m so excited that our community, as large as it is, is always small because we support each other.”

Cyclists will travel from Mactaquac to Hartland on Saturday and from Hartland to Government House in Fredericton on Sunday — a total of about 230 kilometres.

There’s still time to sign up for the ride, and you don’t have to be a paramedic to take part.
