The Atlantique Rock Run has launched its programming for first annual event in support of Crossroads for Women.
It will be a free all-ages rock concert and fundraiser run that will feature on-site food, beverages, and entertainment.
There will be a short fun-run for kids, as well as a 10 km relay race for teams of 5 people.
“We were looking at a way to raise more funds for this worthy cause, and we saw events like colour runs and mud runs, so we thought why not do a rock run,” said Marc Landry, co-president of the Atlantique Rock Run organizing committee.
“We wanted to give people an experience while raising funds for this important cause. Our MC, Phil Athanase, will provide live music during the race, which makes it a really fun experience for runners, but it is also fun for people who just want to come to enjoy the music. There is also a full rock concert after the race, which is free and open to all ages,” says Landry.
The lineup features Christine Campbell, Izabelle, and Big Bad Party Band.
The event evolved from Crossroads Relay, the committee’s previous fundraising event, which last year raised more than $30,000 for one Canada’s largest women’s shelters.
To sign up for the race, or for more information on the event, the public is encouraged to visit www.atlantiquerockrun.ca or to follow Atlantique Rock Run on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
