Crisis Averted As Moncton Based Charity Won’t Have To Close Down

A crisis for a local charity is averted after a desperate plea last week.

Big Hearts, Small City founder Jason Surette says he won’t have to close the charity after people have come forward to volunteer, and to become members of the Board of Directors.

“Just enough volunteers to start our Bed Donation Program up in the next few weeks, we have enough people to put our Board of Directors back to work again so now we don’t have to shut our charity down,” says Surette. “So things are starting to look up for us, and we’re starting to get back on track.”

He is grateful for all the help he gets from everyone, but says he’s hoping for more volunteers.

“We definitely could use more to cover other days, or weekends, or evenings,” says Surette. “[While] we need more volunteers, at least we should have enough to start back up again at the basic minimum of what we need.”

Surette says with that challenge behind them, they’re now focusing on raising revenue to help support those struggling with poverty, homelessness, and victims of fires and floods.
