COVID-19 Vaccinations Have Slowed Down In N.B.

Pharmacies in New Brunswick now have the sole responsibility of administering COVID-19 vaccinations.

The province closed the regional health authority vaccine clinics in early April as demand for shots waned.

Moncton area pharmacist Kyle Arbeau has noticed that vaccination activity has been fairly quiet lately.

“I think third dose boosters have certainly slowed down in the province. We’re now a little bit over 50 percent for third doses and we’re just starting the fourth doses.”

Arbeau anticipates the demand for vaccinations will start picking up again over the next few weeks.

“One thing many people don’t realize about the fourth dose is that you do have to be five months from your third dose. So the amount of people that are eligible at this moment is not as many as we would have probably initially anticipated.”

About 88 percent of eligible New Brunswickers are now fully vaccinated with at least two doses.
