New Brunswick is now reporting 69 hospitalizations related to COVID-19, an increase of six from Thursday.
The number of people in intensive care across the province has dropped to 17 from 19.
Public Health said nearly three-quarters of the current hospitalizations involve people over the age of 60. There are also two people aged 19 and under in the hospital.
Based on PCR testing, the province reported 840 new COVID-19 cases and 548 more recoveries on Friday.
A person over the age of 90 in the Moncton health zone has also died, bringing the total number of deaths to 170.
Of the new reported cases, there are:
- 270 in the Saint John region
- 220 in the Moncton area
- 115 in the Bathurst health zone
- 108 in the Fredericton region
- 53 in the Edmundston area
- 48 in the Miramichi health zone
- 26 in the Campbellton region
The number of known active cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick now stands at 7,558, according to the provincial COVID-19 dashboard.
There are more than 3,000 cases in the Saint John health region, 2,100 in the Moncton area, 905 in the Fredericton zone, 509 in the Edmundston health region, 472 in the Bathurst area, 406 in the Miramichi zone, and 136 in the Campbellton health region.
As of Friday, 83.1 per cent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated, 90.6 per cent have received their first dose, and 23.6 per cent have received a booster dose.
The rate of new cases is 114.7 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 62.2 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 88.6 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Of those currently in hospital, the rate is 7.1 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 3.6 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 22.6 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Among those in the ICU, the rates are 1.3 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 0 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 8.9 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
