Couple Charged After Illegally Entering P.E.I.

A couple has been charged after a truck with New Brunswick licence plates illegally entered Prince Edward Island on Saturday.

Police say the truck purposely drove around a COVID-19 check stop at the Confederation Bridge in Borden-Carleton and was thought to be headed to Charlottetown.

RCMP relayed their information to police in Charlottetown where officers found the vehicle.

Police say a man and woman inside the vehicle were uncooperative and initially refused to identify themselves.

The man was eventually taken into custody and was charged with obstructing police.

The woman was issued a summary offence ticket under the health act protocols and was escorted back to New Brunswick.
