A coroner’s inquest will be held into the death of Derek James Whalen.
He died in May 2020 after an incident at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac.
The inquest has been scheduled for October 17 to 21 in Saint John.
A Presiding Coroner and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts surrounding this death.
Recommendations will be made by the jury, aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.
