Coroner’s inquest for teen who died after falling from school bus

A coroner’s inquest has been scheduled into the death of a New Brunswick teen two years ago.

Hailey Pierce died after reportedly falling from a moving school bus in Dorchester in April 2022.

RCMP told our newsroom at the time that the incident on Woodlawn Road involved a 13-year-old girl.

Deputy Chief Coroner Michael Johnston and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses to determine exactly what happened.

While the inquest will not make any finding of legal responsibility, the jury can make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future.

Five days have been set aside for the inquest at the Moncton courthouse beginning on Nov. 4.
