The Liberals are still in power but will that continue once the provincial legislature resumes sitting later this month?
Progressive Conservative leader Blaine Higgs says his party is ready to form government and Premier Brian Gallant should resign.
Liberal Treasury Board president Roger Melanson says New Brunswickers have sent a clear message to their elected representatives.
“New Brunswickers want political parties to work even more together and to cooperate and to find solutions to some of the challenges that we have,” he notes.
Melanson believes many of the province’s challenges go beyond political partisanship.
Meantime, the People’s Alliance Party said it will support a Progressive Conservative minority government for up to 18 months.
Recent election recounts have not changes the results – the Liberals have 21 seats, the PC’s have 22 and the Greens and People’s Alliance have 3 seats each.
The Liberals are planning a throne speech for October 23rd.
