Convicted murderer recaptured after escaping Dorchester Penitentiary

Officials are investigating after a convicted murderer escaped from Dorchester Penitentiary over the weekend.

Robert Legge allegedly walked away from the facility’s minimum-security unit around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the Correctional Service of Canada, Legge was immediately apprehended by staff.

In a news release, CSC said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape and recapture.

Media reports say Legge is serving a life sentence for the second-degree murder of his former partner in Newfoundland back in 2003.
