Contractor Chosen To Build Moncton’s North End Community Centre

Acadian Construction has been chosen as the contractor to build the new YMCA community centre in north end Moncton which could open by late 2020.

The roughly 35,000 square foot facility will feature a gym, wellness centre, dance studio, meeting rooms, indoor walking track and indoor splash pad with a playground.

YMCA CEO Zane Korytko says the centre will be constructed on a soon-to-be-built extension of Twin Oaks Drive.

“Will be constructed either late this year or early next year so we will be able to access the site and then be able to put our YMCA on a brand new street in the north end,” he says.

The City of Moncton has already committed $6 million ($4 million towards the actual centre and $2 million for the Twin Oaks extension) and $4 million each is being sought from the provincial and federal governments.

The YMCA also intends to launch a $3 million fundraising campaign starting late this year.
