UPDATE: Construction On New West End School Expected To Begin In 2022

A new school will be built to replace Bessborough and Hillcrest Schools in Moncton’s west end.

Government spokesperson Tara Chislett says the funding for the school was approved as a part of the 2020/2021 Capital budget.

Preliminary planning for the K to 8 school is currently underway. Discussions are being held with the City of Moncton and the Anglophone East School District.

Chislett says the new school will house around 700 students and construction is expected to begin in 2022.

In an email, she also said plans are being made to construct the school on the Bernice MacNaughton High School property.
