Construction will begin on the Downing Plaza reconstruction project next week.
Moncton City Council has awarded the tender for the $3.3 million project which will transform a parking lot into a vital link between City Hall and the Petitcodiac River.
In January, $500,000 in federal funding was announced for the reconstruction.
Phase One work this fall will include reconfiguring the Blue Cross parking lot entrance onto Assomption Boulevard as well as water and sewer upgrades.
Phase Two will get underway next spring.
