Conservative leader David Alward sees development of shale gas as the way forward to make New Brunswick a have province.
He believes the opposition to shale gas exploration stems from the fear of the unknown, arguing New Brunswickers who return to the province from out west wonder what the issue is.
Alward likens the fears expressed about shale gas to what was being said decades ago about the Point Lepreau nuclear power plant.
He points out there are thirty wells operating in the province as we speak.
