Condemned Rooming Houses Coming Down

The first of three rooming houses is being torn down on Gordon Street between Highfield and Elm Streets in Moncton.

An excavator is on site today after the Fire Marshal condemned the buildings late last week due to safety concerns.

Twelve residents and pets had to be evicted and are trying to find new homes.

During an inspection of the buildings, the Moncton Fire Department found numerous structural and electrical problems as well as blocked exits.
