MONCTON, N.B. – Provincial Liberal education critic Chris Collins says he’s not surprised the new Moncton High School won’t be opening this fall.
The MLA for Moncton East says he’d been hearing about construction delays for some time.
Collins claims he brought his concerns to Education and Early Childhood Development minister Marie-Claude Blais, but nothing was addressed.
“We raised it in the legislative assembly and the minister deflected the questions saying that it would be ready for September. We had overwhelmingly heard from people within the construction industry that it wouldn’t be ready.”
Collins believes it’s the right decision to have students return to the old Moncton High in September until work is complete.
However, he wonders why it took so long.
