Don’t be surprised to see some members of Codiac RCMP on bicycle patrol this summer.
Interim superintendent Ben Jolette told Moncton City Council this week that some officers recently underwent mountain bike training.
“We had six candidates and unfortunately two were not successful. However, we have four new operators that were trained and so we’re up to 25 mountain bikes.”
Jolette said Codiac also has plans to acquire electric bicycles.
“We’re looking at getting E-bikes to supplement the fleet, just to have that extra capacity.”
Jolette added the bicycle patrols will continue day and night and on weekends.
