The transformation of the CN subway will get underway in downtown Moncton next week starting July 23rd.
The city has approved renovations to overhaul the landmark prior to the opening of the Downtown Events Centre in September.
New lighting and signage will be installed, landscaping work is planned and the subway will be painted in an orange hue.
Modern Construction was awarded the tender for the work last month at a cost of more than $573,000.
City officials say the work will mean lane closures on Main Street beginning Monday betwen Highfield and Lutz Streets.
Detours will be in place until the end of August.
