Clean Air Activist Worried About New Brunswick’s Carbon Tax Plan

A Saint John clean air activist says she’s very concerned with the Gallant government’s heel-dragging when it comes to plans for a carbon tax.

Judy Leblanc tells us just recently during his visit to Sussex, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he did not think the province has a firm plan in place.

“That was alarming because here our premier is selling that his plan is the best there is and yet, since then, we’ve had a federal environment minister and now the prime minister weighing in that New Brunswick’s plan is not acceptable the way that it is,” says Leblanc.

Leblanc says diverting gas tax money is the wrong approach and she expects by September, federal Environment Minister Catherine Mckenna will impose its own carbon tax model on New Brunswick.
