A harsh winter has taken its toll on the City of Moncton’s snow clearing budget.
Details were released yesterday, and they have currently overspent by $1.7 million.
Spokesperson Isabelle Leblanc says the budget operates on a month to month basis, but they do allocate around $4 million for January through April for snow removal, that includes equipment, salt, staff for sidewalk and street clearing. Their annual snow clearing budget is $5.3 million.
They’ve also spent roughly $300, 000 on clearing snow in parks, trails and the Coliseum.
Leblanc says while they are concerned, they are not panicked.
