City Of Moncton On Track As Final Preparations Begin For FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015

As Moncton enters the last 31 days of the countdown towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup the Venue General Manager says they are on track to be ready for the first match on June 9th.

Stephane Delisle says they are well prepared to move the up to 15,000 spectators around the city with Codiac Transit, a free Park and Ride program, and select parking spaces as well.

“Between public transit, bicycles, pedestrians, a free park and ride service from the city and just working with the partners to ensure the operational complexity is straightforward and easy and we believe that doing so one month out from the event is going to give people an opportunity to really plan before they go,” says Delisle.

He adds ticket sales are going reasonably well across Canada, but things are a little behind here in Moncton.

“I believe that some people that may not have realized that it was coming are now gonna go “Wow! Okay, it’s one month out I need to be there,” says Delisle. “So the challenge that we’re putting out to the community whether it’s Greater Moncton or all of Atlantic Canada is to be here June 9th.”

Delisle says they have already installed temporary stands, they’re ready to bring in trailers, and the volunteer training is going on this week.
