The City of Moncton is celebrating a milestone in the decade long saga of building a downtown event centre.
According to a news release, the City has transferred $88 million to Bird Construction now that the centre has reached the ‘substantial completion’ stage.
The Centre is described as basically functional now, with some finishing work to be wrapped up.
As is common, a holdback of $13.6 million will be paid out once the project hits final completion, anticipated by the end of August.
The City states the project was successful in terms of staying on time and on budget.
