In an effort to help celebrate Canada 150. The City of Dieppe has plans to open up a heritage home, as a museum.
Mayor Yvon Lapierre says they have purchased the Joseph Doiron House, which is one of the oldest residences in the city, “We will be developing that as our project for the 150th anniversary of our country. We are hoping to get funds from the federal government to help us refurbish that house and opening it up as a museum of sort, to celebrate our community.”
This house, that was built in 1841, can be found on Amirault Street. It was a gathering and celebration place for the Village of Saint-Anselme, and its basement also served as a school.
