City Approves Plans For Pair Of Apartments

Plans for two 6-story buildings were approved by Moncton City Council on Monday.

The pair of 75-unit apartment buildings will be built on Mountain road.

However, Councillor Greg Turner says his main concerns are around the safety of the driveway.

He says the speed and density of the traffic could make it difficult for residents to enter and exit their residence.

“If I was a resident there I would want to be coming in and out of there in the safest way possible. Traffic is going all in all directions and all levels of speed at all times of the day,” he says.

Turner referred to a study the city conducted that suggests the building will add another 93 vehicles to the average Mountain road traffic of about 1400 vehicles.

He added that will only continue to grow as the area develops, in addition to the tourism traffic heading just up the road to Magnetic Hill.

Turner asked that city planners consider a right-in, right-out system.
