Chocolat Moncton & SENB

91.9 The Bend partnered up with Chocolat Moncton & SENB to warm our city up with delicious hot chocolate beverages. This year, Chocolate Moncton grew, and stretched farther so everyone around Moncton would have the perfect place to pick up a delicious cup of warm and cozy hot chocolate. Not only does a cup of hot cocoa make us feel good, it is also helping members of our community and province. Fifty cents from every beverage a part of the hot chocolate festival, goes to AbilityNB. Ability New Brunswick is a provincial non-profit organization that has been supporting New Brunswickers living with a mobility disability since 1956.

Over the past couple of weeks, we had the opportunity to connect with local businesses about their hot chocolate choice but also to talk about why participating in Chocolat Moncton & SENB was important to them. There was one conclusive theme among the responses received from business owners- community and connection.

Typically, February is a slower time for businesses as people are recuperating costs from Christmas, and trying to shake off the winter blues. Hot Chocolate is something that can be enjoyed by everyone and Chocolat Moncton & SENB kept in mind financial barriers, making it an affordable family activity, or sustainable way to connect with friends and colleagues while supporting our local businesses.

On average, one cup of specialty hot chocolate for the festival costs $6.50. Participating businesses are locally owned and/or operated and its creating a sense of warmth in our community. Chocolat Moncton stretched from Moncton to Shediac! You can browse through locations and beverages on Moncton Chocoloat’s Facebook page. You can vote for your favourite

Dex & Catarina from The Bend Breakfast have dived into the silky cups of hot chocolate during Chocolat Moncton & SENB. Right now Dex has crowned Brix Experience’s Tiramisu Crazy his favourite. The Tiramisu Crazy is a dark hot chocolate topped with rich espresso mascarpone foam, served with a tiramisu truffle for dipping. Catarina on the other hand is having a hard time choosing between Cafe Archibald’s Pain Perdu Hot Chocolate and Tony’s on Botsford beverage White Chocolate & Strawberry Hot Chocolate. Cafe Archibald blends a rich, smooth chocolate base with warm notes of vanilla, cinnamon, maple syrup, and a subtle buttery finish, reminiscent of freshly made French toast. While Tony’s hot chocolate is a white hot chocolate beverage- Inspired by our signature dessert, The Strawberry Thief!

Amber Richards, organizer of Chocolat Moncton & SENB visited 91.9 The Bend to chat about the festival.
