Children’s Author Back Home This Weekend

A Burlington, Ontario woman, who originally hails from St. Stephen, New Brunswick has had an interesting career thus far.

Lana Button started off as an actor in TV and film, then became an early childhood educator and then an author of children’s picture books.

Lana Button is the woman behind the Willow’s books and My Teacher Isn’t Here and says even though her books have won awards there is something that happens with adults that means much more to her.

“They use the books to help their child, and teachers have said they use the books it’s on their shelf, they pull it off when they feel like there is a social-emotional situation in the classroom that the book is going to help,” says Button.

She even cited one example that made her very happy.

” I had a little girl tell me, you know that she hadn’t spoken in school and she felt like my first book “Willow’s Whisper’s” was kind of like her magic microphone and that by the end of the year she was speaking so I mean that’s worth every good and bad review I’ve ever had, stated Button.

Lana Button will be in Saint John at the Indigo at East Point Shopping Centre on Saturday at 3 pm and then Coles in McAllister Place Sunday at 11 am.

On August 10th, she will be inducted into the St. Stephen Chocolate Society, something she is very excited about.
