Child porn investigation nets Moncton man 4 years in prison

A Moncton man has been sentenced to four years in prison following a child pornography investigation.

Michel Joseph Leger was arrested in February 2023 after officers searched a home on Worthington Avenue.

Leger was initially charged with accessing, possessing and transmitting child pornography, according to the RCMP.

In October, before his trial began, he pleaded guilty to possessing and making available child pornography. He was sentenced on Feb. 7.

Leger has also been ordered to register with the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years and to provide a DNA sample.

Once he is released from prison, he will not be allowed to communicate with anyone under the age of 16 and will be banned from attending any place that someone under the age of 16 is known to be for 10 years.
