Chief Electoral Officer Drops The Writ For September 24th Provincial Election

The provincial election campaign is underway with the writ being dropped as they say at 12:01 AM Thursday.

Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth says even though some parties may not have a full slate of candidates right now, there is still time for nominations.

“The deadline for nominations for candidates is 2 PM on September 4th, even though people have been putting up campaign signs and that sort of thing, no one can officially submit their nomination papers until the returning offices have opened”, says Poffenroth.

If you are unable to vote on election day September 24th there are also alternatives available.

” Advanced polls are being held on September 15th and 17th and in addition individuals can go into any of the returning offices in the province and get a special ballot to vote,” stated Poffenroth.

There are six official parties for this election, the Liberals, Progressive Conservatives, New Democratic Party, the Green Party, People’s Alliance Party and the newest one Kiss NB, Keep It Simple Solutions party.
