The Walmart Supercentre attached to the Champlain Mall has been closed for what a sign on the front door calls “Unforeseen Circumstances.”
According to District Fire Chief Marc Cormier, “We received a call at 2 a.m. to respond to a report of smoke inside the warehouse. Upon arrival, staff had evacuated, and firefighters investigated and determined it was coming from a piece inside the warehouse.”
Cormier added that technicians arrived at 5 a.m., but he is not aware of the cause or if it is related to the closure.
A representative from the mall stated it is a “technical difficulty” and that it is likely Walmart will be closed for the remainder of today.
