CFIB Concerned Over Possible Federal Minimum Wage Increase

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has concerns over a new federal minimum wage being imposed, if an NDP government is formed.

Atlantic Canada CFIB Vice-President Jordi Morgan says it could lead to struggling small businesses.

Morgan says the fear is that the provinces would go on and follow the federal government’s lead, and a minimum wage increase could lead to job losses, hire freezes, slower employment growth, which could lead to an economic downturn.

Morgan says in essence, it would end up with the consumer paying more money for products.
