Centennial Park To Get New Fully Accessible Playground

A first of its kind playground will be built in Centennial park, and will have an appeal to just about any child.

General Manager of Recreation, Culture and Events Catherine Dallaire says it will be fully accessible for all children, and will be as much fun for a child that does not have any disabilities, as for those who do.

“They’ve taken into consideration sight impairment, hearing impairment, mobility challenges, mental challenges and they have designed a park that will really mean that it is accessible and most importantly, fun.”

The contract to build the playground has been awarded to Miracle recreation, and has a price tag of over $288, 000.

“This is really the first significant accessible playpark in our community. I as so glad to hear that it is going to be in Centennial Park. it is such a large regional park in our community and is a very active park,” Dallaire says.

This replaces a playground that is roughly 20 years old.
