CCNB To Use Fundraiser To Establish Emergency Fund For Students

A large fundraiser will be held at the Dieppe campus of CCNB in an effort to help students in need.

Staff are planning a mega garage sale on June 8th, to establish an emergency fund for those experiencing financial difficulties.

Guidance Counsellor Lisa Auffrey says they have had an increase in requests this year, “This past year, there have been so many requests from students going through different types of situations or difficulties that we kind of feel powerless at times. We decided to come up with a few different events, so we can establish an emergency fund in an effort to help the students out.”

She says some of these students do not have access to loans, or may be single parents, or they may come from single parent homes.

“We have the local food back here that we try to stock up, because we’ve had around 80 to 90 requests for help, whereas in previous years, we only had 30 to 40,” Auffrey says.

A dozen tables have already been booked and there are still thirty to rent at a cost of $ 20. The cost of entry will be $ 2 per person. Profits from table rentals and admissions will be used to create the emergency fund for students. Sales at the tables will go to the sellers.

Community members interested in booking a table can contact Janice Bourque (506-856-2200 or janice.bourque@ccnb.ca).
